The Rev. Dr. Evalina Huggins was born and nurtured in Zion Methodism. She attended T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, VA; Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, NC, receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religion and Philosophy, while minoring in History and Spanish. Her graduate studies were done at the University of Kentucky and Lexington Theological Seminary in Lexington, KY, where she received her Masters of Counseling and a Master’s of Divinity Degree (1991). She began her Doctoral Studies at Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO, as well as Ph. D. Studies in Special Education at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. She has completed her Doctorate of Ministry Degree at Wesley Seminary, and has an Associate’s Degree in Mortuary Science from the University of the District of Columbia.

Dr. Huggins was called into Ministry in 1983 under the late Charles H. Foggie and Presiding Elder Henry Hampton Sink. She is now celebrating 34 years of active ministry. She has served in several Pastorates in Duqoin, IL, Alexandria, VA, Maryland and Washington, DC. She is a traveling Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church.

Dr. Huggins is the Presiding Elder of the Kingstown District in St. Vincent and the Baltimore District comprised of several churches in Maryland. She is the Chaplain for the International Presiding Elder’s Council for the AME Zion Church. She is the Philadelphia-Baltimore Conference Secretary, Treasurer of the Board of Home Missions, Chair of the Board of Christian Education, a member of the Conference Budget and Finance Committee, Conference Apportionment committee, Conference Board of Trustees and the Triers of Appeal.

Rev. Dr. Evalina Huggins has authored one book “Press Your Claim”. She is licensed by the State of Maryland as an Addictions Counselor,  is  active in the NAACP, SPLC, National Association of Female Executives and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Dr. Evalina Huggins desires to preach and teach a Gospel that is relevant and serves this present age as she lives out her calling to serve God and God’s people.
